Mr Freeman

Hello!  My name is Matthew K. Freeman. I am from the United States of America, where I earned a Bachelor of Science from my state university, in 1989. After working in my field for a few years, I began working in Macao as an English conversation teacher. I was considered qualified for that job because I had earned a degree from a university in the USA. I have been teaching English since 1993, and I have a lot of experience with both younger and older students.

I have taught for more than twenty years, first in Macao and now Hong Kong. Initially, I taught English conversation to adults, and later tutored primary students in English, as well as, secondary students in English language and basic test-preparation. Eventually in Macao, I worked for a secondary school, teaching geography and algebra in the day school and English and TOEFL in the associated evening school.

In Hong Kong, I started teaching other test preparation courses, as well as, continuing to tutor basic and advanced English lessons. Since I started teaching in Hong Kong, I have helped students prepare for local tests, HKALE, HKCEE and DSE English.  Besides TOEFL, I have helped students prepare for IELTS, SAT and ACT. In addition, I have tutored students preparing for other scholastic programs and tests.

I enjoy helping students improve their skills and scores. I think that practice is the best way to improve one’s academic skills, and I like to help students practice their English skills. Also, it is important to practice skills in more than one way and language allows such practice with reading, speaking, listening and writing. However, if students feel the need to focus in individual skills, we can do so.

I have a lot of confidence in my students; I expect good participation and performance. With help and effort students’ scores will improve.
